Exceptionally fine detailed Marine Corps Ring. The flag raising at Iwo Jima is beautifully depicted on one side and Tun Tavern in very fine detail is on the other. (see below) This is a solid back ring. (looking inside the ring you would see a solid gold band similar to a wedding ring). The ring measures 20.05 mm at it's widest and tapers to 7mm at the back to ensure your comfort. The bezel design around the faceted stone reads 'United States Marines'. The bezeled stone measures aprox. 11mm X 13mm.

Women's version available, same design in a smaller scale. Tun Tavern was a brew house built in 1685 by Samuel Carpenter. The tavern became a significant meeting place for groups and individuals. In 1775 it hosted a meeting by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Continental Congress.Samuel Nicholas enacted a decision of the continental Congress to form the Continental Marines which today is know as the U S Marine Corps.

Iwo Jima, the battle began Feb. 19, 1945 with the invasion and ended March 26, 1945. It was part of the Pacific Campaign of WW II. The Marine invasion, known as Operation Detachment had capturing the airfields as it's mission. Some of the fiercest fighting of the war took place here. One of the Marine's objectives after landing on the beachhead was the taking of Mt. Suribachi. At the second flag raising photographer Joe Rosenthal photographed six Marines: Joe Rosenthal, Ira Hayes, Mike Stark, Rene Ganon, Harion Block, Franklin Sousley & US Navy corpsman John Bradly raising the flag.
